The Week Before Christmas in ESI!

Twas the week before Christmas and all through the school. All the students were busy, and that
was so cool.
The projects were started, the kids were aware. That Old St Nicholas soon would be there.

The children were working hard all day long. While inside the halls were filled with fun song.
And teachers were waiting for December Seventeen. When up go their feet in front of the widescreen.

When outside the school there arose such a clatter. We sprang from our desks to see what was the matter.
Away to the window we flew like a flash. “Slow down” said the teacher “the window might smash!”

The sun was shining on fresh fallen snow. As outside we looked on white blankets below.
When what to my wondering eyes should appear. A school bus and cab that filled us with cheer

As we looked out more closely, to our great surprise. There were 38 feet and 20 bright eyes.
“What’s that Mrs. Wood?” said the ESI class. “Look at the red suit and the buckle of brass.”

“Can anyone guess who came out here today?” “In a big yellow bus, instead of a sleigh.”
“It’s Santa and all of his special reindeer!” “At St. Boniface School to fill us with cheer.”

Now Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen! On Comet, on Cupid, On Donna and Blitzen!
To the North Pole please take all this Calgary snow. But please come back soon to our city below!

As we all settled down in the classroom that day. With talks of St. Nick and his Big Yellow sleigh
The kids were excited by such a great sight. Merry Christmas to all and to all a Goodnight.

Kananaskis in the classroom, a special visitor and our Christmas cards ready for delivery!

Ready for the show to begin

This week we had an exciting presentation. Kananaskis in  the Classroom came out on Monday to deliver a presentation to the whole school on ants. The students learned how ants worked together with other creatures in a symbiotic relationship to stay safe and find food. Some of the students were asked to dress up and participate in the performance with Maxine and Jill. We even had a couple of our teachers become army ants and slay the wasp! Our Grade 3 teacher Mrs. Babinec invited her brother Constable Babinec to come in and show the students in the classroom how his uniform can be different depending on the job he is doing at the time. We all had our photographs taken with a real life Mountie. Thanks Mr. Babinec. Our Christmas card delivery this year will take place on Wednesday December 2nd. Students in ESI did a great job on their cards.

Race to 30, National Child Day and Fun with Lego

This has been a fun packed week in the ESI room. We started out with our Race to 30 activity. Students were in two teams and each had the chance to race to the board and write in their answers to the questions. The students were very excited so we are going to try subtraction next time. We also had our National Child Day on Friday. Everyone was encouraged to wear blue to show support for the International Rights of a Child. We enjoyed some time in the afternoon working with Lego on our Fun Filled Friday! We played sight word games this week including Invent an Alien. Some of the students wanted to share their creations with you.
